The Possibility of Life Other Than Earth, Some Astonishing Facts

Possibilities of life other than Earth:

From centuries Scientists and researchers are wondering about some place where possibilities of life other than earth could occur. In the exploration they found some amazing facts about our universe. Europa, one of the moons of Jupiter got attraction when an ocean under its frozen surface showed some possibilities of Life.

life other than earth

Jupiter:

Jupiter is the largest planet of Solar System with surface area of 6.2 × 1010km2 which is 122 times larger than earth’s area. Mainly it is composed of Hydrogen with approx. 25% of Helium. If Jupiter is 50 – 60 times more massive than its current mass, then it can convert into a star by producing enough Helium from the Hydrogen by Fusion Reactions.

Moons of Jupiter:

Jupiter is containing 67 known moons at the time, with four biggest known as Galilean Moons. Naming; Europa, Lo, Callisto and Ganymade. These moons are named after the name of Italian Physicist, Galileo. He discovered these moons in 1610 but the major development is made in the later decades of 20th Century. Ganymade is the biggest of the four moons and even its size is larger than planet Mercury. Possibly it is the only moon that generates its own magnetic field. Lo is thought to be a volcanic mass and might be the one of the most active body in the solar system. Callisto looks very ancient from its surface.  A large number of craters are visible and no recent activity is prominent on the surface.

Europa:

Europa is thought to be the smallest of four Galilean moons. Only a few craters could be seen on the surface of Europa. That explains that it is active moon as compared to other three of this family. Surface of Europa is smooth made up of icy and frozen water while other Galilean moons have a rocky surface. It is a thought that Europa is containing almost double of the water than earths. Surface of Europa is more like the icy surfaces of seas on earth. Possibilities of molten Iron are also there in its core. Initially, it was thought that it has no atmosphere but now scientists get some clues that it has an atmosphere containing some quantity of oxygen as well.

Possibilities of Life on Europa:

In September 2014, some developments are noticed that there is expectedly an ocean beneath the iced surface of Europa. Approximate depth of that liquid ocean is 30 miles. Tidal flexing of moon provides some heat so it does not let the water to freeze in the ocean. Some remarkable development is expected that there could be the possibility of life. Some geological activities are even noticed ever first time on Europa other than earth. Plate tectonics even confirmed the movements on the moon. Hypothesis are made that there could exist an extra-terrestrial life on Europa that do not need any sunlight or direct oxygen.

Organisms can rely on bacteria that can get their food from the chemicals under the ocean. Some cracks also appear on the surface of the Europa that could be possibly because of that tidal movement. As core is expected to be containing molten metals like iron, because of these tidal flexing volcanic materials might also emerge out from the sea floor that could also be another source of heat there. So if the hypothesis and predictions become true, it will be an impressive development for the creatures on the earth to find some neighbors that also possess life.
